Terms & Conditions of Sale

Please read these general terms and conditions carefully before placing your order. By placing an order through our website you confirm that you have read through and understood our terms and conditions and that you agree to the terms and conditions of sale. If you don't agree with the terms and conditions of sale, then do not place an order.

Product and Service Description

  • All prices quoted on the our website are correct and all products have been fairly described.
  • All prices are displayed in pounds Sterling inclusive of UK VAT where applicable.
  • The weights and measurements of our products shown on the website are approximate only.
  • The pictures displayed of our products are accurate, but the colours you see are dependent on the screen on which you are viewing them. The colours may not match what you see on screen.
  • All items are subject to availability, we will inform you as soon as possible if the product(s) you have ordered are not available and we may offer alternative product(s) of equal or higher quality and value

Acceptance of Your Order

If you supplied us with your email address when entering your payment details, we will notify you by email as soon as possible to confirm that we have received your order.

All products that you order through the website will remain property of Thompsons Nursery Ltd until we have received full payment. During the checkout process, you will be asked to complete your payment details. All fields indicated as compulsory must be completed. Please note that we will collect and store your information, using an encrypted secure payment mechanism and will only use your information in accordance with our privacy policy. We will not be sharing your information with any other third party, nor will we use your information for any other purpose other than contacting you with regards to the order you placed with us.

All card payments are subject to authorisation by your card issuer. If your payment is not received and you have already received the products you ordered from us, you must pay for the products or return those products in the same condition that you received them at your own expense.

If we cannot supply you with the product or service you ordered, we will not process your order, inform you of this via e-mail and, if you have already paid for the product or service, refund you in full as soon as reasonably possible

Click and Collect

You can collect your items from one of our four locations. Select your preferred site of Thompson's in the checkout and collect your order from the collection point at the garden centre of your choice. You must only collect your items within the selected time slot. If you are unable to collect from your selected date and time slot you must notify your local branch of Thompson’s via telephone, and arrange an alternative collection time suitable to yourself and the branch.

Delivery Information

Orders placed for delivery via our webshop will be delivered within five working days. We only offer a local delivery service in our delivery area. Enter your postcode on the payment screen to see if we cover your area for delivery. You cannot select a specific delivery date. Deliveries are carried out by a third party company. We only share information with the third party delivery company for delivery purposes. This information is destroyed once the delivery has been fulfilled. We cannot guarantee a specific delivery time. We only offer a curbside delivery service. In the event of the customer not being present at the time of delivery, items will be left at the owner's risk. 

Your Right to Cancel

Consumers have the right to cancel their orders at any given time. Please notify us via email that you wish to cancel your order. We will endeavour to refund you your payment within seven working days of the cancellation of the order.

Please check your items on collection for any damages, or incorrectly supplied items. You must inform us on collection of any damages or errors in supply.


For certain products and services, we reserve the right to substitute alternative products or services of equal or greater quality and value at no extra cost to you if we experience stock shortages at any given time. However, where this is the case, you will always have the right to accept or refuse any products or services that we substitute. If you choose to refuse any alternative product that we have substituted, we will offer a refund or replacement.


Trees cannot be returned or refunded, except in accordance with your legal rights, for example, when they are not of satisfactory quality. As trees are perishable, our company policy is that the reasonable time in which you must notify us that your tree does not conform to the contract is three working days. After this time, we will have full discretion over any substitution or refund.

The cancellation right under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 does not apply to plants.
