    Why Buy Me?

    • Abundance of blooms in summer
    • Great in between taller perennials
    • Attractive to bees and pollinators

    Growing Conditions

    Light:
Full sun to partial shade. Flowers most abundantly in full sun but performs very well with some light afternoon shade, especially in warmer climates.

    Soil:
Moist, well-drained soil. Prefers fertile, humus-rich soil but is adaptable to a range of soil types, including clay, provided drainage is adequate. Tolerates neutral to slightly alkaline conditions.

    Exposure:
Suitable for both sheltered and moderately exposed positions. Generally hardy and resilient in typical garden conditions.

    Drought Tolerance:
Moderate. Tolerates short dry spells once established, but consistent moisture will promote better flowering and healthier foliage.

    Cultivation & Care

    Planting Time:
Plant in spring or early autumn for best establishment.

    Spacing:
Space plants 30–45 cm (12–18 inches) apart. Typically grows to about 30–45 cm (12–18 inches) tall and wide, forming a neat, bushy clump.

    Watering & Fertilization:
Water regularly during the first growing season. Once established, water during extended dry periods. Feed in spring with compost or a balanced fertilizer; avoid excessive feeding, which can lead to lush foliage at the expense of flowers.

    Mulching & Pruning:
Apply mulch in spring to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Deadhead to encourage continuous blooming. After the first flush of flowers, a light trim can promote fresh growth and a second flowering period. Cut back foliage in late autumn or early spring.

    Propagation:
Propagate by division in spring or autumn. Easy to divide and reliable in establishing new plants. Can also be grown from seed, though named varieties may not come true.

    Seasonal Interest

    Spring:
Fresh green foliage emerges, forming a tidy mound and providing early structure in borders.

    Summer:
Produces an abundance of soft, light pink flowers with darker veining from early to late summer (June–August). Blooms are held just above the foliage, creating a soft, airy effect.

    Autumn:
Flowering may continue lightly into early autumn. Foliage can take on subtle yellow or reddish tones before dying back.

    Winter:
Dies back in winter. In milder climates, some basal foliage may persist. Clear away old growth in early spring.

    Wildlife & Garden Use

    Wildlife:
Attractive to bees and other pollinators. A useful nectar source during the summer months.

    Garden Use:
Ideal for borders, cottage gardens, edging, and ground cover. Its compact habit makes it suitable for smaller gardens and container planting. Excellent for weaving between taller perennials.

    Companion Plants:
Pairs well with plants such as Salvia, Nepeta, Alchemilla, Astrantia, and roses. Also complements ornamental grasses and other soft-textured perennials in naturalistic planting schemes.
