Business Update

24/12/20 - Christmas Opening

Our garden centres will be closed between the 25th December and 1st January. We will be open for business as usual on 2nd January

03/11/20 - November National Lockdown

Garden Centres are now classed as essential businesses under government guidelines, so we will be remaining open during November & December.

14/07/2020 - Face Coverings

As of the 24th July in line with government advise, face coverings for adults are mandatory when visiting our garden centres. We will not be able to permit access to the garden centre unless you are wearing one. You do not need to wear a face covering if you have a legitimate reason not to.

12/07/2020 - 2 Meter Social Distancing

We are continuing to keep the 2 meter social distancing rule within our garden centres. It has been working well for us, and we feel by keeping this and not reducing it to 1 meter, we are offering a safer environment for our customers to shop in, as well as continuing to look after our staff.

02/07/2020 - Cafe & Coffee Shop Update

Although certain restrictions are being lifted for the catering industry, our cafe's and coffee shops will remain closed for the time being. We are working hard on solutions that will enable us to open safely, for not only our customers but our staff.

05/06/2020 - Check Before Your Travel

Each week we are receiving regular deliveries of plants and essential gardening supplies and we are working closely with our suppliers to keep up with demand from our customers. Our nurseries have grown full ranges of plants for June and July and we will continue to re-stock with freshly grown plants. However, if you are looking to shop for particular plants or gardening products, we recommend you get in touch with us before you travel. Because of exceptional demand for plants and all gardening products we can't guarantee we will have our usual full range of products in stock at any given time. Email us or give us a call and we'll check availability before you travel.

19/05/2019 - Card Sales Only

We have made the decision to go cash free on all of our garden centres as of 19th May. We will only be accepting payment by card at the tills. Don't forget the contactless limit is now up to £45.

All our staff are working extremely hard in this challenging situation. We ask all of our customers to please be patient and understanding when visiting our garden centres.

11/05/2020 - Great News, we are re-opening!

We will be re-opening our doors across all our garden centres this Wednesday. Following government guidance we have put a number of measures in place to help protect our staff and customers. To start with some services will not be made available, but we will be reviewing this on a weekly basis, these include cafe's or coffee shops, customer toilets, delivery service and customer orders.

We have put a number of social distancing measures in place throughout the garden centres like one way systems in our shops, as well as limiting the number of customers into the garden centres. For more details please see https://www.thompsons-plants.co.uk/safe-trading

28/04/2020 - Re-opening Update

As Garden Centres are not classed as essential businesses, we're still waiting on restrictions to ease before we can re-open our doors.

Whilst we wait, we are busy putting social distancing measures in place throughout the site which will include limiting the number of customers on site at any given time, as well as operating a one way system throughout the plant area and shop, very much like the supermarkets have been doing for the last few weeks.

We will be ready to open as soon as we are allowed, so please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for more details over the coming days.

15.04.2020 - Update

Our garden centres have a dedicated management team on site that are busy looking after all our plants, watering, pruning and caring for them, to ensure they are in the best condition for when we re-open.

08.04.2020 - Update

At Thompson's we are still unsure as to when we will re-open for business, but we are busy making plans for when we do. We will be putting in place social distancing measures throughout our shops, with 2 meter markings on the floor to help customers, as well as limiting the number of customers in the garden centre at any given time, very much like the supermarkets. Our staff will be doing their best to make sure we process your transactions at the till as safely and quickly as possible.

01.04.2020 - Update

We have had many queries from customers who are concerned we are throwing away lots of plants. Thompson's would like to re-assure you that we are doing our best to minimise plant wastage. All Shrubs, Perennials, Climbers, Trees, Roses and herbs are all being cared for and maintained on site, ready for when we re-open.

As we grow our own plants, we can delay the potting up of crops such as our Summer Bedding range, minimising wastage. We’re already planning ahead for when we re-open to make sure we have plants that look great for your garden in Summer. We'll keep you posted.

27.03.2020 - Closure Update

I understand that there are lots of people out there that are spending time in their gardens due to the current circumstances, especially given the sunny weather this week!

Unfortunately all parts of our business are temporarily closed, this includes deliveries and collections.

We will continue to monitor government advice and will look to re-open as soon as we are able to.

Thank you

23.03.2020 - Dear Customers

We do not wish our business activity to be contributing to the spreading of the Coronavirus disease. We also do not wish any staff to be at work if they have vulnerable people at home or are concerned about exposure. For this reason, we have taken the decision to temporarily close our Garden centres to customers and all non-essential visitors at close of business today. 23/03/2020

We want to thank our customers for there business, and would like to re-assure you that we will be opening our doors again as soon as it is safe to do so. Please keep an eye on our website and Facebook pages for up to date information.
