    Haworthia

Haworthia is a small, attractive succulent with distinctive patterned or textured leaves. It's compact, easy to care for and ideal for windowsills and smaller spaces.

    Where to position

Choose a bright position with indirect or filtered light. Some gentle morning or evening sun is fine, but avoid intense midday sunlight.

    Watering

    • Like most succulents, Haworthia prefers to dry out between waterings.
    • Allow the compost to dry thoroughly.
    • Water well when dry.
    • Let excess water drain away.
    • Water very sparingly during winter.

    Temperature & humidity

Normal household temperatures are ideal. Avoid cold draughts and frost.

    It doesn't need high humidity.

    Feeding & repotting

Feed occasionally during spring and summer with a suitable succulent feed.

Repot when necessary using a free-draining cactus or succulent compost.

    Common problems

    Soft or mushy leaves
    Usually caused by overwatering.

    Pale or stretched growth
The plant may need more light.

    Shrivelled leaves
The compost may be too dry for too long. Check the roots and watering routine.

    Top tips

    • Keep it on the dry side: Haworthia is much more tolerant of drought than wet compost.
    • Bright light is best: Avoid prolonged harsh, direct sunlight.
    • Use drainage: A pot with drainage holes is essential.

    Pet & child safety

Haworthia is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.
