Plant of The Month - October
One of our best selling plants this Autumn, and our plant of the month for October, is the Heuchera.
These popular perennials are best suited towards the front of a border as they form low-growing, neat mounds of evergreen leaves that will provide your garden with fantastic colours and interest all year round.
A striking addition to any border or container, Heuchera offer a wide choice of exciting colours. Dark purple, bronze, red, peach and lime green to name a few, often with marbled or veined leaves or with wavy, ruffled edges to them. Although Heuchera are known for their striking colours, they also flower during the Summer months, producing tiny white, red or pink flowers on taller stems.
Heuchera are best grown in a part shaded area of your garden, like a moist, well-drained soil type and they grow to a height and spread of roughly 50cm. October is the perfect time to be planting Heuchera as the soil is warm and damp, which give it plenty of time to establish itself before the colder months at the start of the year.
